Early Times Report
Mendhar, July 25: Private diagnostic Laboratories have been charging the gullible people and poor people of the town exorbitantly in the name of diagnostic tests who are allegedly being referred by the doctors of Sub Division Hospital (SDH) Mendhar here even in case of minor health ailments, sources said today. Sources said poor people of tehsil who are dependent on only low earner farming on small patches of hilly terrain are not being provided any better healthcare in govt hospital while doctors posted in government hospitals instead of treating them refer them to private clinical/ radio diagnostic laboratories even in case of minor ailment cases or for simple tests which allegedly is said to conducted as a part of unholy nexus between doctors and the Lab operators of the area. While revealing his ordeal a heart patient Sabir Hussain (57) s/o Saida Khan of Kheri in Gohlad village said, "he was asked to get some clinical tests done from private laboratory in the area as same were not being conducted in hospital. As he pleaded the technician that he is not in a position to pay for tests, Hussain said, "The technician asked me to pay Rs 100 and only two simple tests were done there in the hospital." Some conscious locals approached BMO and asked why the patient was charged Rs 100 while these tests were supposed to be done free of cost. Though the patient was refunded but was asked to get other clinical tests to be conducted from private laboratories in the area. While talking to Early Times DDC MH Malik said that he was unaware of the development. The aggrieved person can give a complaint in writing in this regard and also assured an inquiry in the matter. |
