| Revenue officers sheltering politicians, property dealers in demarcation of Sahar Khad | | | Arun Trisal

KATHUA, July 25: After taking cognizance of encroachments in entire Sahar Khad, few kilometers from Kalibari Chowk, District Administration Kathua constituted a committee under the supervision of Tehsildar Kathua. However, few of the members are under cloud of suspicion as they are allegedly shielding those politicians and property dealers who are involved in the acts of encroachments.
It is pertinent to mention here that DDC Kathua had issued an order bearing Official No DCK/Hq/215-16/401-411, dated 11.12.2015 wherein it was ordered to demarcate Sahar land with the collaboration of Flood Control Department.
DDC in its order had said that a number of complaints are pouring in regarding the encroachment in Sahar Khad passing through villages Rakh Sarkar Plahi, Changran and Logate that must be demarcated and serious action must be taken against encroachers, if any.
The committee constituted for the purpose includes Avtar Singh Tehsildar Kathua, who led the team, Shamsher Singh and Subash Kumar both Naib Tehsildars of circle 6, 3 and 4 respectively, Bal Krishan, Mohd Ismail, Krishan Dutt GQ circles, Raj Kumar, Md Ashrad, Subash Chander, all Patwaris. Ironically, few tainted members of the committee facing corruption charges for which cases were pending with judiciary are backing the politicians and property dealers, who are actual encroachers.
Instead of taking action against habitual encroachers, the revenue officials are shifting the land in the name of these blue eyed persons. Blue eyed belonging to ruling political party covered the encroached piece of land and planted trees there in order to show it as personal property.
Pritam Chand, Inhabitant of Sahar Khad at Kalibari said once whole land was under canal, belonged to irrigation departyment/ state but few blue eyed with the support of tainted Revenue officials turned the land into private property which ultimately was sold at exorbitant rates. It is relevant to mention here that the revenue officers leveled with corruption charges again sheltered these influential persons and tempered revenue records while demarcating the area and left their grabbed land untouched. Inhabitants of the area now pointed out the demarcation and report submitted by these tainted officers is full of discrepancies.
They demanded impartial inquiry against tainted officers for their misdeeds. Public said that they had no faith in these officers as demarcation differs from revenue records and demanded to demarcate the encroached land once again through honest officers. |
