Scindia jumps on to separatists bandwagon, says financial package not enough | Congress of subversion | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 25: The Congress suffered a massive defeat both in the 2014 general and J&K elections. In the Lok Sabha, it became a party of 44 and in J&K, it came fourth by winning only 12 seats I the 87-member assembly. One of the major factors which led to the collapse of the Congress-led UPA rule at the centre and NC-Congress (mis)rule in J&K was the Congress' Pakistan policy and its policy of retreat in J&K. The nation was up in arms against the Congress not just because the Congress and corruption had become two sides of one and the same coin but also because the Congress government had repeatedly humiliated the Indian nation by dancing to the tunes of Pakistan and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who was allowed to continue despite the fact that he had desecrated the floor of the assembly by telling New Delhi that "by repeating the word atootaang again and again, you cannot change the nature of political problem of Kashmir". It was expected that the Congress would learn lessons from its humiliating defeats at the centre and in the state and refashion its Pakistan and Kashmir policy but it was to be. It continued to tread the same dangerous path. However, the Congress showed its real face in the Lok Sabha where its MP Jyotiraditya Scindia delivered a highly anti-national speech. He demanded referendum in Kashmir. Obviously, his uncalled for statement created a sort of furore across the nation. All, barring the Congress leaders, the Left and the semi-left parties, condemned the Congress and Scindia using highly strong language. Again, it was hoped that the Congress and its MPs like Scindia would refashion their approach towards Pakistan and Kashmir but, again, it was not to be. Scindia on Sunday jumped on to the bandwagon of Kashmiri separatists and the so-called mainstream Kashmiri leaders, including Omar Abdullah and MY Tarigami, and shamelessly said financial package was no solution to the Kashmir issue; something different was needed to conciliate the seditionists in Kashmir. Asserting that "marriage of convenience" between the ruling PDP and BJP was not working in Jammu and Kashmir, Scindia said the Modi government should try to win the hearts of Kashmiris which couldn't be won through financial packages. "Jammu and Kashmir cannot be won over by economic packages. Their hearts need to be won over…This whole marriage of convenience between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not working there. The Centre is also not doing enough for the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Scindia said. There is a lack of economic development and employment opportunity for youths of the region. The Centre needs to do much more. There has to be dialogue with the people of Kashmir," he, among other things, said to identify the Congress with the anti-nationals. Again, it was hoped that someone from the Congress either at the centre or in the state will tear into Scindia and dissociate the Congress party from what he said, but nothing of this sort happened. All this only serves to demonstrate that the Congress has from a national party turned into a party of subversives. It is statement of fact. Mani Shankar Aiyar said the same thing. Ghulam Navi Azad said the same thing. Saif-ud-Din Soz and GA Mir said the same and Taj Mhi-ud-din and many others in J&K and New Delhi said the same. It is clear that the Congress is in a self-destruct node. |
