Dungi residents allege utter neglect in overall development | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, July 25: Dungi block in Rajouri district covers many villages situated near Line of Control (LoC) but is totally neglected by the district administration as for as development is concerned. Sarpanchs of various villages and people of this block in a meeting chaired by Ch Qamar Hussain,MLA Rajouri, at Dungi revealed this and alleged that area is still lagging far behind. Raj Kumar Sarpanch and others resented the shortage of basic amenities including good schools, good roads, safe drinking water, adequate electricity supply, proper distribution of Ration by the CA&PD department etc. "Besides deficiency of basic amenities the government has failed to provide telecommunication net work (BSNL services) in the area and people living near border line facing many difficulties in contacting their relatives, health & police officials in case of any emergency including medical emergency" said Raj Kumar. However people were seen appreciative of army units deployed in the area for providing necessary helps including water & medical aids and ambulances in case of any emergency. People informed Ch Qamar Hussain ,MLA about the worst condition of electricity and said, "The voltage supplied is equal to candle light that too supplied after several unscheduled curtailments". "No water supply scheme is properly functioning in the area as many among them were damaged during 2014 floods and since then department has failed to restore these schemes and people in the ensuing scotching heat waves covering long distances to collect water from natural resources that too is contaminated during rainy season" said Mushtaq Ahmed. People said the road from Rajouri to Veer Bhadeshwar situated on the Line of Control is in worst condition. Though GREF had allotted tender for the black topping of the road in 2014-15 to a contractor but it was sub standards as within months black topping got eroded. One resident Wali Mohamed resented poor education system and said, "Education department has failed to provide required teachers in the government schools resulting in poor results including 0 % in many schools for middle, high and higher secondary classes. Referring to poor road connectivity, MLA Ch Qamar Hussain, said, "it is the genuine demand of the people of this block and the matter will be taken up in the next Assembly session and District Development Board meeting. He however sanctioned a 63 KVA transformer from his constituency development fund and hoped soon resovle low voltage problems after its installation. |
