| Departmental nexus flourishing in PHE, Flood Control & Irrigation | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept.8: Millions of rupees are yet to be withdrawn as liability of dozens of contractors who did several development works, including cleanliness of rivers/tributaries. Contractors and drivers of PHE/ Irrigation & Flood control department including private vehicles hired by PHE (Mechanical wings) Kathua raised their voice in number of times for the release of their pending liability but it appears that nobody bother about their sufferings.
It is not a matter of shortage of grants as sources smelled about sufficient grants with the department but the officers including JEs allegedly demand sweeteners to withdraw liabilities of these contractors/drivers.
Inner sources including contractors, drivers informed that the officers demand 7% commission for the release of total amount. They alleged that shameful nexus was being flourished in PHE, Flood control and irrigation department openly wherein XEns backed the menace.
A contractor ( name withheld) said that he had spent huge amount in the maintenance of rivers/tributaries but when he approached the office to withdraw genuine amount, the officer concerned demanded bribe .
He said that he threatened the officer to approach high level officers, the concerned officers mocked and informed about his proper share of commission also. A driver whose vehicles were used by PHE ( Mechanical wing) also recited similar story and demanded release of his pending fare.
The contractors demanded control on nexus and withdrawal of liabilities instantly. They appealed concerned ministers and DDC Kathua to intervene in the matter. |
