Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 8: The police department's intelligence wing has observed that a good number of the "ex- militants" were playing an active role in the valley protests, ET has learnt.
Highly placed sources maintained that MHA has prepared a note soon after Home Minister Rajnath, along with the All Party Delegation visited Jammu and Kashmir in which they have pointed out that JK police has informed that thousands of ex-militants are playing an active role in the ongoing unrest in valley.
Sources however said that the police intelligence wing has pointed out that rehabilitation policy for ex-militants has not been fully implemented in the valley, which could be the reason for their active part in the ongoing unrest.
Police sources maintained that though the police have shortlisted the ex-militants from various districts of the valley but action will be taken only against a few. "Action might not be taken against everyone but yes whosoever is found involved in Anti National activities, he is to be booked," the police sources maintained.
One of the Member Parliament who was part of all party delegation confirmed that the presentation given by the Jammu and Kashmir police has pointed out that around almost 10 thousand ex-militants are active in current valley unrest."The police presentation which was submitted before the all party delegation says that the ex-militants are very much active in the ongoing unrest, but yes it has mentioned that their rehabilitation has not been implemented fully," the MP wished anonymity told early TIMES.
Meanwhile sources said that MHA has asked the authorities to also check if any ex-militant is facilitating militant activities in valley in one or other way.
Sources also said that fearing that the ex-militants may rejoin the militants; the union home ministry is also likely to ask the state Government to handle the rehabilitation program with utmost care.
