Three drug peddlers held with ganja and poppy straw

Jammu, Sept 8: In continuation to the operation 'Sanjeevni' launched by Dr Sunil Gupta, SSP Jammu, police today arrested three persons and recovered 9.5 Ganja (Charas) and 2 kg Poppy Straw (Bhukki) from their possession in three separate incidents at Trikuta nagar and Chatha area respectively.
"On specific information Trikuta Nagar police raised a naka near Saraswati Dham Railway Station and intercepted one person for his suspicious movements, spokesperson said, adding, "on search of his belonging police party recovered 3.5 kg of Ganja from his possession."
Police spokesperson said, "The accused identified as Lakshmi Kumar Tandon son of Hari Dass Tandon of Bilalgarh Chattishgarh presently staying at Bhgwati Nagar Jammu was arrested on the spot alongwith consignsment of contraband," He added that arrest was made by Police party of Trikuta Nagar at naka under the close supervision of SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Bharat Sharma, Chandan Kohli, SDPO City East and SP South, Shazad Salaria.
A case under FIR No: 186/ 2016 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Trikuta Nagar and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, police party of police post Chatha during patrolling in the area of Bhour Camp W-02, near Panchayat Ghar intercepted one pedestrian carrying a polythene bag.
"On seeing the police patrolling party, he tried to escape from the spot while after a briefed chase the said accused was apprehended', said police spokesman, further adding, "police team recovered 02 kg poppy straw (bukki) from the polythene bag which he was carrying."
Spokesperson said, "The accused has been identified as Mohinder Singh son of Sadhu Singh of Bhour Camp W-02."
A case under NDPS ACT has been registered accordingly. The catch was made by the team in-charge police post Chatha S/I Krishan Raina under the supervision of the SHO Satwari Inspector Manjit Singh, SP South Shazad Salaria.
Yet in another similar case police party of Trikuta Nagar laid a naka near Railway Morh, Trikuta Nagar and intercepted one woman for her suspicious movements.
The women police the part of naka team searched her belongings and recovered 06 Kgs of Ganja (Charas) from her possession. The accused has been identified as Geeta Devi.
"The said lady was arrested and narcotic material was seized on the spot, police said.
"In this connection a case under FIR No.187/ 2016 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Trikuta Nagar and further investigation of the case is going on, he added
