People protest against shortage of drinking water, block road 9/8/2016 10:54:06 PM Early Times Report Mendhar, Sept 8: People staged on protest demonstration against public health engineering department for their failure to provide drinking water to the area for the last 20 days. Local staged a massive protest against the XEn PHE Poonch, AEE PHE Sub Division Mendhar and Minister PHE for their failure to provide this drinking water to Mendhar area for the last 20 days causing great difficulties to locals sources said, adding that people today gathered near TCP Mendhar and blocked the Mendhar-Poonch road for more than two hours. Receiving the information of protest sub division police officer Shahid Naeem Telephonically talked with the protest leaders and assured them that their genuine demand will be met shortly. On the issuance of SDPO people lift the dharna and allowed the traffic on blocked road. Meanwhile similar protest was witnessed in Pathana Teer of Mendhar where locals alleged that several hemlets were left without laying the PHE pipes. A delegation of the locals called on PHE AEE Sub Division Mendhar and apprised him of the problem.
