Tussle between Security forces and separatists, backed by militants, to heat up | | | Let the separatists be prepared for a long drawn battle with the security forces after the Government of India received a nod from the opposition for tackling the Kashmir situation firmly. In fact for several years separatists were clamouring for reopening of channels of dialogue with them. For all these years, since 2006,the Government delayed holding talks with the separatists on one pretext or the other. And when the time came for opening the channels of dialogue separatists turned down the offer for talks. In fact the Government was motivated by the opposition leaders for holding talks and when the central Government agreed to send a team of members belonging to various opposition parties under the leadership of Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, the opposition members felt slighted when not a single separatist leader of consequences accepted to talk on Kashmir and the situation. However,it was unfortunate on the part of members of the All Party delegation because they berated the state Government for mishandling the situation by adopting confusing stand on various issues.Well the All Party delegation members were not prepared to get more people killed had the state Government adopted stern measures. Militants were getting ready for forcing the Government to accept some of the demands and in this connection rate of ambushes of Army or security convoys or camps could increase. And this is what happened on Wednesday when In a second attack in less than a month, three soldiers were injured when militants ambushed an Army convoy in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on.The attack took place at Wadipora Kralgund, Handwara, over 70 km from Srinagar, when the Army convoy was on way to Baramulla."The armed militants fired indiscriminately on the convoy, injuring three Army jawans. The fire was retaliated by the soldiers, but militants apparently managed to escapeThe Army and police immediately launched a search operation in the area to nab the militants. No militant group has owned the responsibility for the attack. Along with such ambushes Pakistani Army may increase the rate of ceasefire violations and the latest was witnessed in Poonch. In fact the Poonch incident was meant to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir to enhance the level of violence. But the alert Indian troops foiled the ingress bids. This means that Pakistan and its agencies, operating in Jammu and Kashmir plan to adopt a two-pronged measures for derailing peace which stands derailed since july 8 when a militant commander Burhan Wani was killed. What may facilitate offensive against the militants and the separatists is the growing resentment of the Chief Minister,Mehbooba Mufti who could have, otherwise, intervened and prevailed upon the Government of India to be lenient. But Mehbooba too has been slighted.First her appeal to separatists to come forward and hold talks with members of All Party delegatoin. Secondly, the attack she had to face when her cavalcade, visiting a village where a y outh was killed in clashes with security forces, was stoned forcing her to cut short her visikt. She too is willing to deal firmly with the agitators and protesters so that peace was restored to KashmirIt is noiw final the Government and other opposition leaders may hoild talks with all stakeholders but it seems that the centre has decideed to ignore Hurriyat leaders. |
