Jammu, Sept 8: Demanding justice for underprivileged community in state, the victims of land grabbers today lambasted Police and District Administration for allegedly facilitating the land mafia.
The members Dalit community on Thursday staged a massive protest at Exhibition Ground, Jammu against the atrocities being inflicted on them by police and administration backed land grabbers with support of ruling BJP leaders.
Over 50 members of the community along with women alleged that land grabbers supported by senior BJP leaders forcibly occupied their land in Butta Nagar, Poloura, with support of local SHO Janipur.
The protesters alleged that when whole administration is busy with dealing Kashmir unrest, some senior BJP leaders give free hand to its goons and asked them to occupied private land and also stopped administration to take action against them.
"We had faced first attack on July 10, 2016, when some goons posing JDA people come to our place for demarcating piece of land under Khasra number 512 in Buta Nagar, Paloura Jammu," said Veena Devi a protesters.
She said that we produced original papers of land and courts stay order but the land grabbers (posing JDA people) refused to accept the papers and with the help of police force started construction work on our land, without any valid documents to support their ownership.
She said that we took up the case to court an court granted us stay again and directed the administration to maintain status quo but under political pressure and influence of money, instead of implementing stay orders police threatened us to raise the issue further.
"Local SHO threatened us for dire consequences while allowing the land grabbers to continue the construction in violation of court order," she narrated.
She further added that we knock each and every door and met Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Vice Chairman JDA, DC Jammu, SSP Jammu, SDM Janipur, SDPO Baskhi Nagar but everybody disappointed us.
She said the construction of goons is almost completed now but recently they came to dispute along with SHO Janipur , who later filed a fabricated case against our family members and put one of our member in hawalat without food and water.
The SHO also threatened to our arrested member and asked him to convey his message that if stakeholders of land not stop raising the issue, he (SHO) will put all members, including girls and women into lockup and ruin future of children.
"Dalits are worst victim of atrocities of administration in all BJP led states, including Jammu and Kashmir," said Mahinder Kumar another protester.
