Auqaf run school lacks basic facilities, students face mal-nutrition

Poonch, Sept 8: Islamia school namely Dar-ul-uloom Jamia Sultania Razia run by Auqaf Department in the famous shrine of Peer Baba Chotey Shah Badshah Saki Maidan here lacks basic amenities reportedly while as the students reading in the school face mal nutrition despite having million of rupees at disposal sources said here today.
Sources said there were nearly 60 students reading in the Islamia School which is consisted on only 5 rooms where two rooms were meant for principal and the staff where as students live, read and sleep in remaining three rooms.
Sources said that there were no dearth of funds and the school itself has lakhs in its bank account but on the welfare of students not even a single penny is being spent by the administrator of the Auqaf and presently Tehsildar Mendhar Shehzad Khan.
A student namely Mohd Sayed lost his precious life due to lack of money six months ago for an ailment, they added.
Principal of the school Mohd Riyasat Khan confirmed Early Times that there was nearly Rs 1 cr in the bank account of the school but failed to answer as why the money is not being utilized for the development of school and its students.
Sources said that people from all walks of life throng the shrine of Peer Baba and huge amount is being donated by the devotees but still no proper care is taken of the students, they added.
Even the staff of the school which is based on 22 people rue that their salaries were not being released in time they further added.
The administrator of Auqaf and presently Tehsildar Mendhar Shahzad Khan said that we try our level best to provide all facilities to the students but on ground level the claim of Tehsildar falls flat as the students were neglected a lot and even they were denied the medical facilities, rich diet and other basic facilities the sources said.
A retired Govt. official has been appointed as secretary of the Auqaf by the Tehsildar where as under rules the post of secretary of Auqaf holds the Naib Tehsildar the sources further alleged the monopoly of Shehzad Khan. Meanwhile Sub Divisional Magistrate Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh and DDC MH Malik while talking to Early Times separately assured that the matter will be looked into by the concerned quarters and if anybody found guilty will be treated sternly as per law.
