Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 8: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has issued a show cause notice to the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Jammu, for non-compliance of its order about demarcation of government land at Bhatindi and in Narwal Chowk area. A complaint in this regard was lodged by Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah against JDA, revenue and Forest Departments for allegedly allowing illegal construction of huge complexes on forest land, state land and gair-mumkin khad. He alleged that two of such complexes were being raised near Macca Masjid, Bathindi, and one near Herbal Park, Narwal Chowk. Taking cognizance of the complaint, SVC directed departmental vigilance officer, forest department, DFO, Jammu, JDA's director land management (DLM) and deputy commissioner, Jammu, to file a comprehensive report after due inquiry and checking of records. During hearing of the case by SVC, it transpired that the land in question, where huge structures had allegedly been raised illegally was to be demarcated by the revenue authorities to ascertain its ownership between JDA and state as forest department records indicated that it was not forest land. However, despite the SVC directions, ACR, Jammu, avoided the demarcation of the land and his presence before the commission to depose about the status of the land. Taking a serious view of the non-compliance of its order, SVC issued a show notice to ACR, Jammu, directing him explain as to why action should not be initiated against him as warranted under rules for non-compliance of its order. He was also directed to appear personally before SVC alongwith the reply of the show cause notice on the next date of hearing fixed for November 14, 2016. SVC also directed the ACR to ensure the demarcation of the land as reflected in the communication addressed to him by the JDA DLM before the next date of hearing. |
