jAMMU, Oct 1: First Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, M A Chowdhary has rejected the bail application of a drug peddler.
Umesh Singh (42), son of Dhantar Singh of Link Road, was arrested by police in NDPS Act along with a consignment of illegal drugs.
He had tried to run on seeing a police patrol on Link Road on September 6 last. The search of the bag, he was carrying, had led cops to the recovery of 3,432 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Spas plus and 225 tablets of Nitravet-10.
After hearing the APP, the court observed that illicit drugs had a high addiction potential and there had been a gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on them, both physically and psychologically. "The compulsive drug seeking and use, on addiction, causes chronic, brain disease changing the brain, its structure and how it works. The deadly menace, a major problem of the society, requires to be checked through strengthening the reinforcement," the court said.
With theses observatuions, the court rejected the bail application of the accused. (JNF) |
