Incomplete info on notice boards speaks of malafide intentions | Official apathy kills PSGA | | Arun Singh
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 1: Various government departments brought within the ambit of Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA)-2011 appear hell bent on sabotaging the essence of the Act. Bringing down rampant corruption in government departments was another objective of the Act. But due to the non-compliance of the Designated Officers to provide full information by installing notice board for the visitors shows that corrupt elements existing in the departments are not letting this Act to work. "According to Rule 6, under PSG Act 2011 the Designated Officer, for the convenience of general public is required to display all relevant information related to the services provided on the notice board installed at a conspicuous place for public and also in the public domain," sources told Early Times. They said the necessary documents to be attached with an application for obtaining notified services are also to be displayed. In the event of non-display of such information in the public domain, appropriate action is to be initiated against the Designated Officer by the competent authority. Sources said that out of 131 Designated Officers, notice board was installed in the premises of 109 DOs including 70 in Jammu region and 39 in Kashmir region only. Moreover, it was observed that out of the displayed notice boards, incomplete notice boards or notice boards showing incorrect information were installed in the premises of 42 Dos-19 in Jammu and 23 in Kashmir. Sources further said the non-serious approach of the authority concerned could be gauged from the fact that no action was taken against the officials them who had not installed the notice board or had displayed incomplete/ incorrect information on the notice boards. |
