Pak fires in Sunderbani, KG Sectors of Rajouri | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 5: In yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops fired heavily on forward Indian posts along the Line of Control in Sunderbani and Krishna Ghati Sectors of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, while Director General BSF K K Sharma today reviewed operational preparedness along international border at a high level meeting here. "Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing in Sunderbani Sector at 1700 hours and Krishna Ghati Sector at 1730 hours this evening by using small arms, automatic guns and mortars,'' a defence spokesman here said. He said Indian troops responded appropriately to the firing and no casualty or injury reported to the Indian side. Meanwhile, BSF DG K K Sharma today visited the Jammu Frontier and took stock of the operational preparedness along the international border and the Line of Control in prevailing security scenario. "IG Jammu Frontier DK Upadhyay gave a detailed briefing on the operational preparedness of the Jammu Frontier, while various issues were discussed with the Field Commanders,'' official spokesman here said. He said that the DG instructed to maintain optimum level of alertness and respond in the befitting manner to the adversary, if necessity arises. The BSF chief expressed satisfaction about capabilities and high morale of BSF troops, said the spokesman, adding, ''he also praised the supreme sacrifice made by Constable Nitin Kumar who exhibited combat audacity and fought valiantly and laid down his life in the line of duty which saved valuable human lives by depriving access to militants entering into the camps of security forces in Baramullah. Earlier in the afternoon a journalist got injured when he accidentally slipped into a gorge when few rounds were fired by Pakistan on Line of Control in Rajouri while guns remained silent in Poonch and Jammu districts. "A journalist of a national news channel this afternoon sustained injuries after a shell of mortar fired by Pak landed near him and out of fear, he slipped into a gorge while performing his professional duties,'' an eye witness here said. He said that injured journo was hospitalised. Pakistan fired a mortar and few rounds in Rajouri district but there was no firing since late night in forward areas of Jammu and Poonch districts. Over 50,000 people have migrated from 45 border villages in Pallanwala, Chhamb and Akhnoor areas of Jammu. Border dwellers are being accommodated at locations identified by the district administration.
