DSS criticizes blocking of secretariat road | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 15: A large number of local residents including ladies, children and senior citizens assembled at the Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) office at Dogra Hall Jammu and insisted on launching a strong protest against the discriminatory and cruel dissection of the city of temples in two half's under the false and frivolous garb of security of the secretariat housing public leaders and public servants. "Jammu is a peaceful law abiding city of temples" said the prominent persons of the area adding that the "decision to block the road is unreasonable, cruel, uncalled for and arbitrary since there has been no incidence or report of any threat to security in this area". It is nothing but a policy of suppressing the peace loving people of Jammu and hurting their religious feelings by denying centuries old access to their historical temple. The besides, it is a cruel hardship for school going children, women coming to MH Zanana park and for patients going to SMGS Hospital and the funeral processions on way to Jogi Gate. The loss to tourism, traders, and the inconvenience to the porters, hawkers and Rehriwals is a blow on their lively hood; some having shifted from Kashmir in winters to make two ends meet. The President DSS Th. Gulchain Singh Charak pacified the agitated members and asked them to calm down till we receive an outcome of the Memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister Mehbooba mufti, Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, Speaker, local Ministers, MPs, MLAs & Presidents of Political parties. He also expedited the 19 member subcommittee formed under the Co-convener of All Jammu Civil Society Forum Abdul Majid to establish liaison and furnish a report and arrive at future course of action. |
