SHO doing SSP's duties, running affairs of distt 11/16/2016 12:57:27 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 15: An SHO, posted in a district of Jammu region, is virtually executing the powers of his SSP and running all the affairs of the district, thereby growing stronger with the passage of every day. "He decides about the transfers of other SHOs, police post heads and lower staff, besides taking policy decisions. He is so close to his SSP that the latter has given him all the rights to take decisions on his behalf," police sources alleged. He belongs to a Jammu locality and has remained posted at different places here as a Sub-Inspector. After his promotion as Inspector, he was transferred to another police wing, but after some time, he had again managed his transfer back to the executive wing of state police. But this time, he was posted in another district. Though the posting and the district were new, that did not make any difference to him as he already knew the SSP. Within a short span of time, he became very thick with the SSP and started doing even his household works. The SSP had virtually become dependent on him, sources alleged. He is presently holding a headquarter thana, which is considered to be very important in the district police circles. Sources said while other SHOs had been transferred in the district from time to time, he continued to head the same police station for the past few years. There were also complaints of professional misconduct against him, but no action had so far been taken against him, sources said. He was also alleged to have got transferred lower staff from the thanas and got them replaced with his own men. "This he has done to make sure that all the information from the police station flows to him. He needs this information to pass it on to his SSP," sources informed.
