Early Times Report
srinagar, Nov 15: Ahead of board examinations for Class 10 and 12, a top bureaucrat of the Education Department preferred to stay in a hotel in Srinagar even as scores of government guest houses were vacant. Official sources revealed to Early Times that Commissioner Secretary, School Education, Shaleen Kabra chose to stay in a 3-star hotel during his stay in the Valley on November 11-12. Kabra had arrived from Jammu to review the arrangements for the board examinations. "Most of the government guest houses are vacant in the Valley as all officers have moved to Jammu. It's strange that the bureaucrat, who was on an official visit, stayed at a hotel," sources added. Kabra had chaired a meeting with top officials of the Education Department including Director School Education, Chairman BOSE, Additional Secretary School Education, Joint Directors and other senior officers from Directorate of School Education. Chief Education Officers of the Valley districts participated in the meeting through video conference. Kabra reviewed the arrangements of 10th and 12th classes exams and implementation of various flagship programmes under education sector. When contacted, Director of School Education Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmed Bhat, refused to say anything about Kabra's stay in the hotel. "I don't have any knowledge where he was staying. The Directorate of School Education has not paid any money for his stay. May be the arrangements had been made by the Commissioner Secretary's office," Bhat said. |
