Police delays charge sheet to 'bail out' BJP workers | | | Early Times Report
sunderbani, Nov 15: Almost two months on since some political workers from the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) made a murderous attack on a whistleblower in this Tehsil of Rajouri district, the police is dilly-dallying the filing of the charge sheet before the court only to allegedly safeguard interests of the ruling party henchmen. Highly placed sources in police said the SHO Sunderbani has been deliberately delaying the submission of the charge sheet as he is under "political pressure" to delete atleast two names from the list of accused who attacked the whistleblower, a prominent resident of the area. As per the witnesses, who have also shot a video of the incident, atleast six persons, believed to be henchmen of the ruling BJP hit ruthlessly the whistleblower, who was about to expose their "frauds and Gunda Raaj" before the media. The victim, who was badly wounded in the attack on September 19, was rushed to Jammu for treatment where he was found to be suffering from head injury including that in his eardrum. Though the villagers subsequently knocked the door of the Police Station Sunderbani, with all evidence of the deadly attack, the police is yet to file the charge sheet. Though on public pressure the police has listed all the six culprits in the FIR vide number 64 under section 341 and 323, the SHO is dilly dallying the charge sheet to delete atleast two of the names, said an insider. He said the SHO, who is close to the BJP, hopes that the "villagers will forget about the incident in the coming months and then he will subsequently delete the names of the BJP favourites." The villagers said while the SHO files charge-sheet within days in case of "fake FIRs", he was buying time in case of the genuine FIR. Pleading delay in charge-sheet the police station told the aggrieved party that the concerned SDPO was personally investigating the case and this was the reason why it was taking time. But the SDPO declined to respond to phone calls from the Early Times office. Meanwhile the villagers have appealed the Director General of Police, K Rajendra to direct the concerned police station to file the charge sheet without any further delay. "We want justice," the aggrieved said. |
