GoI sanctions Rs 3 Cr for development of Water Sports on Baglihar Dam

kishtwar, Nov 15: With a view to promoting adventure tourism in Jammu region, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has sanctioned Rs 3 Crore for Doda district for the development of Water Sports Circuit on Baglihar Dam at Pul-Doda under the scheme 'Integrated Development of Tourist facilities as Anantnag-Kishtwar-Pahalgam-Daksum-Ranjit Sagar Dam circuit under Himalayan Circuit Theme of Swadesh Darshan Scheme'.
As per the details available with "Early Times" Chief Executive Officer, Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA), Bal Krishan has wrote a letter to Nodal Officer National Institute of Water Sports at their headquarters, Panjam Goa to depute a team of experts to work out feasibility of water sports at Pul-Doda on Baglihar-Dam. Reports also said beside Member Legislative Assembly, Doda- Shakti Raj Parihar also vigorously took up issue in the District Development Board Meetings and several other meetings with Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh to develop Pul-Doda as Water Sports Circuit.
Reacting to this development, MLA-Doda said, "Abounds with scenic beauty, large forest area, snow-clad peaks, virgin trekking routes and majestic Chenab passing through it, the district Doda and Kishtwar offers a variety of tourist spots and enthralling trekking routes."
"But due to the communication and road connectivity constraints, these districts have been able to attract only chunk of domestic tourists,"
"We had raised the issue for developing Water Sports Circuit on Baglihar Dam at Pul-Doda from long time, but I am very excited to inform you that finally, Ministry of Tourism Government of India has sanctioned Rs 3 Crore under 'Integrated Development of Tourist facilities as Anantnag-Kishtwar-Pehalgam-Daksum-Ranjit Sagar Dam circuit under Himalayan Circuit Theme of Swadesh Darshan Scheme' to promote the areas as hub of adventure tourism and water sports," buoyant MLA-Doda added.
He said that to create the infrastructure at Baglihar Dam, Pul-Doda government of India has sanctioned Rs 70 Lakhs for floating jetties, Rs 70 Lakhs for Rescue Boats, Rs 45 Lakhs for floating gang ways and for improvement of premises and fencing and Rs 33.37 Lakhs as Security cabin.
The Ministry of Tourism Govt of India has also approved Rs 232.27 Lakhs for development of tourist facilities at Bhaderwah under the scheme for creating infrastructure.
"A lot has done and lot needs to be done, we will continue our work with same zeal so that ample funding would be made available for the promotion of unexplored areas like Lal-Draman, Dedni, Lal Bani, Ram Rachna, Dal Draman including many other spots for the adventure tourism." MLA Doda maintained.
