Bid to put Private school on fire in Anantnag foiled | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Nov 15: Vigilant school staff on Monday evening foiled an attempt of miscreants to put a private school on fire in South Kashmir's Simthan-Bijbehara. Official reports said that at around 10:30pm on Monday evening, a group of miscreants barged inside the premises from rear side of the school building and tried to set ablaze the building by scattering kerosene oil on few windows. The fire flames immediately caught the attention of school security staff and doused the fire, they said. A staffer said that due to unavailability of electricity, installed CCTV's cameras couldn't capture the activities of miscreants who tried to set ablaze the school building. "We have security arrangements in place. CCTV cameras are installed too but unfortunately these miscreants attempted during electricity break," he said. Reports said that soon after the incident, police and army arrived on spot and took stock of the situation but miscreants had already fled from the spot. A police officer confirming the incident said that they are probing the incident. Earlier on Monday evening at around 8:00pm, miscreants also set ablaze a car near Pazalpora Bijbehara on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Police said that the vehicle was parked in front of car workshop and was laying there for many months there. Pertinent to mention here, unknown elements in Kashmir have burnt many government and private schools during the ongoing separatist sponsored agitation. Anantnag district alone has lost five schools including decades old Hanfiya Higher Secondary School Anantnag that became the first target of 'school burning squad'. Police has so far arrested and rounded a dozen youth for their alleged involvement in School burning incidents. |
