Specially abled submits memorandum of demands to DSWO Nowshera

Rajouri, Nov 15: Specially abled of Rajouri distreict under the banner of All J&K Disabled Welfare Association (AJKDWA)have alleged the many among them under various categories have not received their pension since a long time.
In this connection they under the leadership of Vinod Sharma, senior vice president AJKDWA today submitted a memorandum to the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) during his visit to Nowshera recently.
Specially abled of Rajouri alleged that some of their colleagues fall under militancy related incidents have not received their pension for the last many months while the pension of many 'Divyaang' is pending for the last more than 7-8 months. Vinod Sharma further alleged that the Union Government has increased the pension of the 'Divyaang' to Rs1000 per month from the month of April.
"But the beneficiaries in Rajouri district still to get their pension on enhanced basis for the reasons best known to the officials of Social Welfare Department. 'Divyaang' with 100% disabilities have also demanded pension through post office Money Orders as they can't go the offices and banks. They also demanded distribution of modified scooties, tri-cycles, crutches, hearing aids , wheel chairs etc among the beneficiaries by organizing a Camp by the Social Welfare department. Vinod Sharma also alleged that many pensioner not receiving their pension through J&K Grameen Bank for the last about two years. He demanded immediate release of their pensions.
Dr Abdul Khabir, District Social Welfare Officer when contacted said that demands raised by the 'Divyaang' are genuine as J&K Grameen Bank is not equipped with e-banking system. He said it will take time but assured to streamline the system very soon. He also exhorted the beneficiaries to submit their Adhaar Cards for the same. "The arrears from April to November will be deposited in their accounts" said Dr Abdul Khabir.
