| Trucker held for allegedly raping a 'minor' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 15: Kotranka police today claimed to have arrested a truck driver who allegedly have raped a minor girl. Police have registered a case in this regard Police sources said, "The victim along with her mother and uncle lodged a written complaiant with local police therein alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a truck driver Shokit Ali son of Abdul Ghani of Rehan."
Quoting complainant, the police sources said, " the accused allegedly kidnapped the girl forcibly and took her to the truck committed the rape upon her and later dumped her near the house of one of his relatives in the vicinity of the road."
"Taking cognizance on the written complaint, Kotranka police immediately shifted the victim to District Hospital (DH) Rajouri for medical examination. "And launched a manhunt to the nab the accused, sources said.
They said during raids to apprehend the accused police team has arrested a truck driver and seized the truck bearing registration no JKO2T-2181 which was used for the commission of the crime.
Police said that the accused was arrested within 12 hours of the complaint lodged by the mother and uncle of the victim as the father of the victim is working in Saudi Arab.
Meanwhile a case under FIR no.81 u/s 376 of RPC stands registered in this regard against accused and further investigation is on.
The arrest was made by the police team led by Sub Inspector Mohd Jahangir, SHO, Police Station Kotranka. SHO Kotranka said that that the accused will be produced before the law of court on Wednesday for police remand for further investigation into the crime. |
