PWD uses sub-standard material in road construction | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, Dec 5: The performance of Public works Department is said to be dismal as far as construction of roads in the district is concerned. The department has also been accused of using sub standard material. The sources revealed that the Department has become a golden eggs laying hen for the blue eyed contractors who were assigned to construct the roads in the district. By using Cheap and sub standard material the condition of these roads remain dilapidated causing inconvenience to general public sources added. The said officials including concerned JEs and AEEs and XEn of PWD Sub Division Mendhar allegedly seems to be in hand in glove with the contractors who for monetary benefits betrays their duty. The said for the last 30 years a road from Sakhi Maidan to Kalai which has a length of 23 kms was covered which got damaged immediately as soon black topping was done. The reason was felt that contractor has used sub standard material but there was no official from the department to take the action because the contractors have made the department a golden eggs lay here, sources added. Secondly black topping is supposed to be done in hot weather in stand in cold. The read made black topping material is being brought from different parts of Poonch which in cold season was not worth to serve the purpose said some technical people. The same fate was met with another road leading from Mendhar town to Qasim Nagar. It is pertinent to mention here that when any public grievance is highlighted by media in this boarder district the administration comes in action and undone works are being taken up. But the several Govt department remain reluctant to serious public issues. The bad condition of roads damage the vehicles also besides causing in convenience to general people said Tata Sumo union president Kafil Khan. He said our vehicles suffer losses due to dilapidated roads which is cause of concern. While talking to Early Times District Development Commissioner MH Malik said that order has been issued to stop black topping of roads in current season with immediate effect and this order will remain in force till furthers orders. An official inquiring will also be initiated to probe into the use of sub standard material in the construction of roads added the DDC. He also hailed the Early Times reporting for highlighting the loop holes of some departments. |
