Congress remembers Ambedkar on his 61st death anniversary 12/6/2016 9:54:49 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 6: To commemorate the 61st death anniversary of Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Congress held a function here today at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu. The function was organized by District Congress Committee Jammu (U) under the presidentship of Anil Chopra. Paying tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the speakers remembered the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in framing the Indian Constitution wherein the provision for the welfare and the upliftment of poor, downtrodden and each & every section irrespective of caste, creed colour or religion was kept and approved by the Constituent Assembly of the Country. Anil Chopra said that Dr. Ambedkar worked closely with the Congress party leaders in delivering the Indian Constitution and his ideology of social equity and vision of a society free of discrimination is in consonance with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. The Congress is the only party that has made significant contributions towards the empowerment of downtrodden sections of the society, he added. G.L. Chalotra (Ex-MLA & former Vice Chairman SC Board) in his address remembered the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar during freedom struggle and post independence era. He said that Indian constitution formed under his chairmanship is one of the best document in the World which takes care of the aspirations of the largest pluralistic society in the World.
