Three-fold increase in number of terrorists killed in JK: Govt

NEW DELHI, Dec 6: The number of terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir this year has seen a three-fold increase while casualty for security personnel has recorded a rise of over 80 per cent compared to last year, Lok Sabh was informed today.
Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir in response to a written question said the number of terrorists killed this year was 140, a figure which stood at 46 last year.
The number of arrests and surrenders this year was 76, which was seven-fold increase from last year when the figures stood at 10. He said the number of army personnel killed this year stands at 71. This number had been showing a declining trend up till last year with 53 in 2013, 47 in 2014 and 39 in 2015. He said the number of terror incidents has increased to 305 till November 27 this year as compared to 208 for entire last year. Also the number of security forces injured has shown over 100 per cent increase and it stands at 208 this year compared to last year's 103.
