JAMMU, Mar 22: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on occasions more than one claimed that there was no presence of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Jammu & Kashmir. "Indian Muslims would never allow terrorist outfits such as ISIS to have base in the country" and that "any Indian Muslim who believes in Islam would not allow any opportunity to the Islamic State to have a base in the country," Rajnath Singh only recently said at Varanasi, UP. His remarks came in the wake of claims that the global terror outfit was involved in an attack on security forces in Srinagar in which a terrorist, Mugees, was killed and a sub-inspector, Imran Tak, lost his life. However, the Jammu & Kashmir unit of the BJP, which is part of the Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government, doesn't buy the claim of the Union Home Minister. It says there is the presence of the ISIS in Jammu & Kashmir and there is the need to eliminate it with an iron hand. Condemning the killing of 39 Indians by ISIS in Iraq, the Jammu & Kashmir unit of the BJP on Wednesday said that "the emergence of the terror group in Kashmir needs to be curbed with iron hand". In fact, the state unit of the BJP fielded its state spokesperson Arun Gupta to condemn the killing of 39 Indians in Iraq - a statement to which effect was made by the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday evening. To substantiate his point, Arun Gupta said: The "disclosure that a youth from Telangana, who was recently killed in an encounter, had come to Kashmir as an ISIS fighter should act as an eye-opener for those who refuse to acknowledge the presence of ISIS in Kashmir. The emergence of ISIS in Kashmir needs to be curbed with an iron hand. The government can no longer afford to remain in denial mode". Arun Gupta even went to the extent of claiming that "terror groups Al-Qaeda and ISIS have agreed to bury their differences and unite with 'Universal Jihad' as their common goal". "Kashmir has been selected as launch pad for 'Ghazwa-e-Hind', a prophesied battle in which Muslim armies would invade Indian subcontinent and would be victorious and will establish Islamic law in the subcontinent…the ISIS was 'disintegrated', but not over," he claimed. "Rather than verticals, it is working as a linear organization with cells operating in different parts of the world, including India. ISIS is an ideology very alien to us. It is barbaric, ruthless, and non-compromising," he further said. Who is right? The state unit of the BJP or the Union Home Ministry? The nation needs to know. In the mean time, a report from New Delhi said there are 7000 to 8000 persons in India are under the influence of the ISIS and they are operating in Maharashtra, Telangana, Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir. |
