Cabinet Ministers, leaders skip cremation | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 22: The selection grade constable of Jammu-Deepak Thusoo who attained martyrdom during a gun battle with militants in Kupwara's Halmatpora in north Kashmir was cremated with full honour here on Thursday. However, none of the politicians, including the ones from self acclaimed nationalist BJP, top police officials, and other bureaucrats attended the last rites of the martyred policeman. Last rites of the martyred cop were performed in presence of hundreds of people who had arrived from different parts of Jammu to pay rich tributes to the martyr policeman who scarified his life while fighting with militants. Most politicians, except two belonging to the community of the brave heart, skipped the last rites and senior police officials, except SSP Jammu also failed to mark their presence to pay homage to the martyred cop. The district administration was represented by an Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Arun Manhas while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu, skipped the cremation. As per the details available with "Early Times", the body of the cop arrived by air and was shifted to his residence at Jagti Nagrota where several of his friends, family members and relatives paid rich tributes to the departed soul before his last rites were performed at cremation ground at Jagti, camp in Nagrota. Only two Members of Legislative Council (MLC) from ruling BJP including Surinder Ambardar and Ajay Bharti, who belong to KP community were present during the last rites of the cop. MLA Nagrota Devinder Singh Rana of National Conference was also present during last rites. Minister for Relief & Rehabilitation Javed Mir visited the house of the martyred cop. |
