Shame! Rs 3000 for SPOs, Rs 6 lakhs for terrorists | JK govt ignores nationalists, patronizes anti-nationals | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 22: The Jammu and Kashmir government pays Rs 3000 to Special Police Officers, who sacrifice their lives for the nation, and on the other hand it announces Rs 6 lakhs as reward for the terrorists and promises them Rs 4000/ as monthly stipend. What a shame! SPO Muhammad Yousuf Cheche son of Shah Muhammad of Kachama, Kupwara was killed in a gunfight with terrorists In Kupwara on Wednesday. The poor SPO used to get Rs 3000/ as consolidated salary and his family is living a miserable life. "Instead of providing decent life to SPOs like Cheche, the Jammu and Kashmir government is busy in appeasing terrorists and is offering them huge incentives. This is demoralizing for our forces operating on the ground," said an analyst. It may be recalled that PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir recently announced a new surrender policy, according to which, a terrorist who surrenders will be rewarded with Rs 6 lakhs in the form of an FDR (fixed deposit) that will have a lock-in period of 10 years and would become encashable upon display of good behaviour. While the FD will have a lock-in period of 10 years, the surrendered terrorists would be able to receive Rs 4000 in interest per month with immediate effect. A Kashmir watcher said, "Jammu and Kashmir government employs SPOs after lot of training and hard work and then asks them to fight the terrorists even without regularizing them. Even if they get killed in the line of duty their sacrifices are not acknowledged. All nationalist people salute the sacrifices rendered by these brave men." "It seems PDP led coalition government has started believing that the only way to survive in Jammu and Kashmir is by appeasing terrorists and their handlers. The people at the helm seem least bothered bout the SPOs like Cheche who work 24x7 to provide security to the politicians and the people and don't even shy away from laying down their lives for the country," he added. An official said, "We firmly believe that SPO culture should be done away with and these brave young men should be honoured by providing them with a decent salary and compensation. The terrorists whom J&K government wants to rehabilitate are out to challenge the sovereignty of the country and are fighting the Pakistan's war in J&K. They deserved to be killed be killed not rehabilitated." |
