| Stone crushers violate norms with impunity | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, Mar 21: Throwing norms to bin, a stone crusher owner in Dhera village of Mendhar tehsil has been making mockery of rules and runs its crusher in a thickly populated area.
Though a writ petition has been also filed by a local Asif Azad son of Azad Khan of Sakhi Maidan and others bearing OWP No: 0774/2006 on 20-11-2017 regarding violation of norms by stone crusher under name and style of National Stone Crusher Dhera.
Within the reaches of stone crusher falls a girls school, water lifting scheme and a thickly populated area of Dhera which face health hazards but nobody takes note of it.
Although the High Court has directed the owner of crusher that he can run the crusher until March 31, 2018 thereafter if he wants to run it he has to renew his license as per the new laws and norms. The locals alleged that the stone crusher owner has been violating laws and norms right from the beginning. Moreover he has forcibly encroached the land upon which he established the crusher.
The crusher has become a life threat to locals, has contaminated the water reservoirs also in the area. Therefore this crusher should be removed from this residential area and shifted to some other place where he won't be allowed to violate the norms with impunity, demanded locals. |
