Rajouri: Physical edu teachers posted near their homes for years

Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 6: The Education department in Sunderbani area of Rajouri has virtually gone to dogs.
Take the example of physical education teachers. The physical education teachers attached in various schools of Sunderbani are enjoying postings nearby their homes for last more than 20 years.
This has set a wrong precedence in the Education department, as the tehsil people allege that these teachers either do not move as per the official system of transfers of two years in their own capacity or are enjoying the patronage of their mentors in the department.
As per people of the area, these physical instructors should have swapped positions or should have been transferred to other places as per the official guidelines of the department.
However, flouting the rules and norms, they are enjoying the postings of their choice, apparently due to the patronage of their mentors.
As per the department guidelines, after serving for two years on a particular place, every teacher, be it a physical instructor or a general line teacher, should be relived from the place of posting and transferred to another place.
A senior Education departmental official said on the condition of anonymity that since these physical instructors are in hand in glove with the superiors in the Education department, they are not transferred.
"Not only physical teachers there are a lot of general line teachers in Rajouri division who are posted at a particular place for years together. This has deprived the genuine people of their rights," said the official.
Meanwhile, the people of the area have appealed Altaf Bukhari, the Education Minister, to take cognizance of the matter so that education system in Rajouri is set right.
