Early Times Report
Kishtwar, May 6: The people of Thakrie today rued the poor condition of 10 kilometers long Shana-Mangthala road and called upon the government to take immediate measures for blacktopping the road as the same has become a nuisance for the daily commuters due to its slippery and sluggish condition.
The people informed 'Early Times' that the road suffered damages after the snowfall. They said that the department has failed to maintain the road as it comes under the PMGSY. They said the road was constructed a decade back. The residents said the condition of the road gets worsened with each passing day adding to the woes of people with many vehicles getting trapped on the road.
They said that though the road was operational since last several years the department has not taken any step for improving the surface of the road so that it could be made traffic friendly. They called upon the state government to take immediate and necessary measures for up-gradation of this road providing connectivity to more than 5000 people.
The people said that it was not only the road condition that haunts the people of the area, but condition of schools is also pathetic in the area. They said that the schools lacks infrastructure, staff and those posted; most among them prefer to skip regular duties. They said that similar is the condition of health infrastructure wherein Nos runs the health centers in the area if any. They said that no ATM is available in the area and they have to travel 35 kilometers to reach the nearest ATM.
