PDP-BJP Govt's incentives for stone pelters responsible for bloodshed in Valley | A top BJP leader responsible for approving amnesty for stone throwers | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 6: Incentives as well as amnesty announced by PDP-BJP government for the stone pelters are responsible for the ongoing bloodshed and violence in the Kashmir Valley. Today's killings authenticated that pro-stone pelters policies being adopted by the PDP-BJP regime has encouraged Kashmir youth to throw stones on security forces during encounters to ensure safe passage for the holed up terrorists during such operations. Credible sources in the intelligence agencies revealed that it was all due to policies of the PDP-BJP government that more and more Kashmiri youth have adopted stone pelting as instrument to take on security forces. Sources said that intelligence agencies had warned central as well as state government against announcing incentives and amnesty for the stone pelters but it was all due to intervention of senior BJP leader, who is claiming himself as Chanakya of J&K politics, Union Government gave its approval to 'prize' stone pelters. On February this year, government had announced in the Legislative Assembly that over 9,730 people, involved in stone-throwing incidents between 2008 and 2017 in the Kashmir Valley will be granted amnesty. Government had approved the withdrawal of 1,745 cases, involving 9,730 persons. All these were categorized as "first time offenders". The cases were identified by a committee constituted by the Chief Minister earlier. "Over 4,000 people, involved in minor incidents of stone throwing over the past two years, have already been granted amnesty", government had stated. Around 8,570 people were arrested in 2016 alone. According to official record "The number of cases in 2017 dropped to 869 and 2,720 people arrested". Interestingly 56 government employees and 16 Hurriyat activists were among the 4,949 people found involved in stone-throwing incidents and they were also given amnesty. |
