Jeevan Nagar Park craves for admin's attention
Politically connected people enjoy luxurious parks, common man's parks give shabby looks

Early Times Report
Jammu, May 6: The shabby condition of Jeevan Nagar Park near Satwari speaks volumes about apathetic attitude of the concerned department.
The parks in Gandhi Nagar area, where people well connected with corridors of power, are luxurious and maintained. But parks in the localities where common people are residing, could be found unattended which clearly shows that the Floriculture department takes care of only those public parks which fall in politically influential areas.
The Jeevan Nagar Park was developed in 2013 and a long pathway was also constructed for the regular walkers. Along this strip, lights were installed by the department, but due to improper care of the park, many lights were broken. When the park was developed, dozens of benches were placed in the park, but now hardly any bench is available there.
A local resident, Sandeep Dogra alleged that the park in Gandhi Nagar area particularly near PWD Guest House were well-maintained, where open gym has been set up, flower plants of different varieties have been grown, proper trimming of grass is taken care. But on the contrary, the benches placed in the Jeeven Nagar park have been stolen. The lights are not working since long due to which people can't walk in the night hours. The gardener deployed by the department rarely comes due to which the park has turned into bushes.
He said: "We are very disappointed with the present government, which has failed to maintain parks and gardens not falling in ordinary people's areas. When these leaders were not in power, they used to assure that these parks will be properly maintained, but all their claims have fallen flat after they came into power."
