Early Times Report

Reasi, May 6: The goons of a ruling party leader, who has been running an illegal travel agency at Sunderbani Highway, beat up and injured the driver of commercial vehicle so badly for not giving commission that he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for treatment.
Sources told Early Times that the leader has been running a travel agency illegally on the Sunderbani Highway for the past three years near police station Sunderbani in violation of norms. As per rules, nobody can open a travel agency on highway. But this leader is using his influence and is operating without any fear.
"The owner of the travel agency was allegedly extorting Rs 100 to Rs 150 from each commercial vehicles operators in Sunderbani using his muscle power. A driver namely Pritam Kumar, who was running a Tempo Traveler, was on Sunday stopped at Highway by goons of the leader when he was on his way from Sunderbani to Jammu. He was beaten severely when he refused to give Rs 150. He was so badly hurt that locals shifted him to nearby hospital where doctors sensing his serious condition referred him to GMC Jammu," sources said.
The police lodged a FIR No. 49 U/S 307 and arrested one person. But the victim alleged that the real culprit behind the attack on him is still moving freely and police should apprehend him.
Local alleged that the leader has been extorting money from the commercial vehicle operators and has been running illegal travel agency on the Highway in the area. But he is politically so well connected that police has not taken any action against. They demanded his immediate arrest.
