Mendhar Sub Division reels under water crisis, several WSS defunct | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, May 6: There have been reportedly severe water crisis prevailing in Sub Division Mendhar While several water supply schemes were said to be defunct since long sources said here today. They said since all the natural resources have gone dry and several water schemes were reportedly defunct as Govt has failed to make arrangements for providing potable water supply to the people of Mendhar, Balakote and Mankote despite construction of more than 250 water tanks in the sub division but no appropriate measures were made to make them functional going crores of rupees down the drain sources added. Besides out of 80 pumping stations hail of them are not in working condition which adds more salt to the wounds of the villagers of three tehsils who are creaving for few drops of water sources said. The locals alleged that the MLA of this area have miserably failed to pay heed towards the pleas of people of this constituency. While talking to Early Times Assistant Executive Engineer PHE Sub Division Mendhar Muneer Ahmed Khan said that we are aware of the fact that water supply schemes to sub-division Mendhar have been defunct since 2003 for one reason or the other. To revive these schemes we need crores of rupees from the government. Whenever the required funds will be made available the defunct water supply schemes will become functional. Locals have urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to initiate steps to revive the water supply schemes in Sub Division Mendhar as she had already made a commitment for the same during her last visit to Mendhar. |
