Early Times Report

Rajouri, Mar 19: Bhartiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), has allegedly been fleecing its customers by providing them with poor broadband services in Rajouri district, which has adversely affected the business establishments as well as the student community.
Sources told Early Times that the deplorable condition of BSNL broadband services has increased the suffering of its consumers a lot. “Internet access remains suspended for hours on daily routine due to technical problems. At time services remain off for days, week making difficult for business community, who face problems in carrying out their business and apart from this the students, journalists of the district have to meet with the same fate, who are totally depended on internet for study purpose and getting other information,” they alleged.
The broadband service is so degraded in the district that consumers can’t make calls and internet speed is so slow that it takes lot of time to open a website and downloading of files takes hours. “Not only this, the main lines of broadband can be seen hanging down in and around the town. Children can be seen playing with these hanging wires, which pose serious threat but department never takes note to resolve this problem.
They further said that hundreds of complaints are made by the customers with BSNL Department in the district everyday but these complaints remain unattended putting people in problem. “We receive hefty bills every month but get poor services in return. Whenever we lodge complaint, we get petty excuses like wire has broken and get false assurances that service will be restored within few hours but as a matter of fact it doesn’t happen,” they said further adding that even wireless broadband B4S has been giving worst service.
Although BSNL is the most revenue generating telecom company but in terms of providing services the company has performed very poor in the district. Even BSNL had assured that the border villages will be provided with services but till date nothing has been done. “The BSNL Staff in the district is totally non cooperative,” they alleged. TDE Rajouri when contacted, he gave assurances to sort out problems.
