Modi bashing campaign likely to prove costly for NC in Valley | NC helped BJP to polarised voters in Jammu region also | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: If one goes by the opinion of the voters of the Kashmir valley one thing has become clear that results of the Parliament elections are going to be proved so costly for the coalition especially the National Conference. With the completion of the polling for all the six Parliamentary seats of Jammu and Kashmir people are not gradually starting opening their cards. And the way people are opening their cards is a warning signals for National Conference. Political pundits believed that first time in the history National Conference is finding it difficult to win any Lok Sabha seat in the State. The party which has won all the three Parliamentary segments of Kashmir valley in 2009 is this time facing difficult to even retain the prestigious seat of Srinagar for which party stalwart Dr Farooq Abdullah is party candidate. Political experts are of the opinion that Modi bashing proved costly to National Conference because instead of highlighting own achievements National Conference leaders concentrated only on attacking BJP's Prime Ministerial nominee Narendra Modi despite that BJP is putting any challenge to National Conference in Kashmir valley. Through Modi, National Conference leadership has tried to attack its arch rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by repeatedly alleging undeclared alliance between BJP and PDP. In its entire campaign National Conference leadership has targeted Modi but failed to highlight any achievements. The over-clever National Conference leadership has tried to target PDP through hate-Modi campaign but it seems that this effort has proved counter-productive. Instead of giving any hear to the anti-Modi campaign of National Conference, voters of Kashmir valley have voted for a change. This Modi bashing campaign has boomeranged not only in Kashmir valley but also in Jammu region also where Congress is fighting elections against BJP. During their campaign in support of Congress candidates in Jammu region, all National Conference leaders targeted Narendra Modi without caring that this would help the BJP to consolidate a particular section of the society. Sources said that Congress leadership in Jammu region wanted to highlight only achievements of the coalition Government of J&K and UPA Government at Centre but National Conference leadership especially targeted Modi which ultimately instigated the people to come out in large number to cast their votes. |
