Mother of two succumbs to alleged medical negligence | Unregistered nursing homes continue to play havoc Syed Tahir Bukhari | |
SOPORE, July 6: Unregistered Nursing homes have continued to play with innocent lives as yet another young lady died due to the negligence of a doctor in Jehlum Valley Health Care (JVHC) nursing home in Sopore. According to sources, 24 year old lady ,Ateeqa Bano Wife of Hilal Ahmad Bhat of Shrakwara Wagoora ,Baramulla went nursing home for a minor surgery on June 15, and was operated by Dr Gh Nabi of Jhelum Valley Health care and polyclinic New colony Sopore. Hilal Ahmad husband of the deceased said told Early Times that, "Just after one day she complained of fever and was taken to the said clinic for checkup and there said doctor did not refer her". "He prescribed some medicines for typhoid and said that she would be quite well soon. He misled the family and grabbed more than 10000 from us on June 30, he alleged. The family of the deceased lady of their own took her to the District Hospital Baramulla where Doctors immediately referred her to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital Srinagar, where doctors attending on her said that her whole body was infected due to the sheer negligence of the doctor who had operated her at Sopore. She battled for life in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but succumbed on July 7 at 4:30 am, leaving behind a 3 year old boy and 40 days baby girl. Family has now demanded stern action against the accused Dr Ghulam Nabi who is at large. "Such incidents will happen in future, as these doctors don't follow protocol or orders and resort to improper use of equipment" said Fayaz demanding action against these private nursing home . Meanwhile a police official divulged that they had sealed Jhelum Valley Health Care Nursing home in Sopore and have started investigation into the matter. |
