Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 16: Clipping the wings of a high profile party leader into size, the Bhartiya Janta Party high command is learnt to have snubbed this strongman in the Modi Government for intentionally avoiding the BJP's official candidates and encouraging the rebels, who are contesting as Independent in the Assembly elections.
According to the sources, this high profile strongman was taken to task for not accompanying BJP candidate Advocate Ajay Nanda from Reasi Assembly constituency in filing nomination papers on last Tuesday despite being present in Jamnagar, hardly a few kilometers from Reasi town, where he was joining BJP contender R S Pathania on the same day.
Sources said that this top leader not only intentionally skipped the rally of Advocate Nanda but even dared to unofficially announce that he would also not accompany BJP candidate from Udhampur Assembly constituency in filing nomination papers as both the party's official contenders on these two seats were not as per his choice.
On these two seats of Reasi and Udhampur, this BJP leader was openly lobbying for Baldev Sharma and Pawan Gupta, respectively, who are now contesting as independent candidates.
Besides, sources said that this high profile leader was also privately expressing his reservations over the names of a few more candidates of BJP and there were reports that he was even indirectly helping the rebels to ensure defeat of official contenders. In the case of Reasi and Udhampur, he was even claiming in private discussions that the party high command was mulling to review the candidates.
Taking serious note of such anti-party behavior, sources said that the BJP high command snubbed this top leader, who also represents one of the two Parliamentary constituencies in Jammu province, and issued him a direction to actively canvass for all the official candidates and particularly accompany Khajuria for filing the nomination papers on Friday.
Even as following the direction, this leader rushed to Udhampur alongwith national general secretary Ram Madhav for joining the BJP candidate in filing nomination papers, sources said that the high command is still closely monitoring the intentions of this strongman in State politics during the ongoing Assembly polls.
