Two-day Thalassaemia medical camp concluded | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 11: Jammu and Kashmir Thalassaemia Welfare Society in collaboration with Paediatric department organized two days camp for patients of Thalassaemia at SMGS Hospital Jammu on Wednesday. According to press release, Haematologists and experts in Thalassaemic disorders, Dr. VP Choudhary and Dr.JS Arora from Delhi were the guest faculty on the occasion. The camp was attended by large number of patients, their parents, doctors from Paediatric department and Pathology Department, GMC Jammu and Medical Superintendent SMGS Hospital. All Thalasaemic patients were examined and evaluated clinically and individual problems and complications were discussed. Dr. JS Arora General Secretary National Thalassaemia welfare Society New Delhi, spoke on Iron chelation and gene therapy in Thalassaemia. Dr. VP Choudhary former Professor and Head of Haematology AIIMS New Delhi and presently Director Haematology Division Paras Hospital Gurgaon, gave Lecture on Thrombocytopaenia and diagnostic pitfalls especially in reports based on haematology cell analysers. The sessions were presided by Dr. KK Kaul, Prof. and HOD, PG Department of Pathology. Dr.Rekha also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various problems of the patients & need for regular follow-up. Dr.K.K.Kaul,HOD Pathology and Medical advisor J & K Thalassaemia welfare society later summed up the academic lectures and gave an update in recent trends in application of platelet count with respect to various haematological disorders for the benefit of post graduates . |
