Massive 'search operations' still on to trace missing 'Tangdhar duo'

Kupwara, Mar 11: The massive 'rescue cum search' operations are on to trace the two local youths of Tangdhar in Kupwara district of North Kashmir who went missing since March 9 and are feared to be killed in avalanche that hit area during inclement weather.
From last two weeks the people from border areas like Tangdhar, Machil, Keran, Karnah, Chowkibal and other adjacent areas were stranded in Kupwara town, as the road leading to the these areas from Kupwara town had been closed due to landslides and snow slides at various places due to recent snowfall. The fresh snowfall have thrown life out of gear and put people of border areas in valley.
According to official sources that three local residents of Tangdhar Mumtaz Ahmad R/O Chiterkoot, Aarif Lone R/O Khawarpora, and Mohammad Ismail R/O Dringla Beyadi who were stranded in Kupwara town from last two weeks reached safely to their places on March 10.
While two more persons namely Sadam Muneer S/O Muneer Ahmad Sheikh R/O Tangdhar, Mohammad Shareef S/O Late Alam Ud-Din R/O Bayadi were believed to make to their homes from Chowkibal to Tangdhar via Sadna top but yet have not reached.
A local resident of Tangdhar Mohammad Rafi told early Times that this duo might had taken rest somewhere while as the two missing youth have not been traced so far.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Kumar Rajeev Ranjan when contacted told that as per initial reports some five people of Tangdhar ventured out. "Three of them had reached to their places safely while as two are missing since March 9, he said adding, "we had put our men and machinery for rescue work but bad weather and heavy snow is hindering the pace of rescue operation." "I have sought support from GoC Army for their logistic support and police and locals who have joined in massive rescue operation from last two days, he added.
Hoping the best for the duo, the official said tomorrow morning the rescue operation will again resume.
