Vested interests Cause Postponement of BBIA elections 4/6/2015 11:51:10 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 6 : Elections to the Bari Brahmana Industrial Association were postponed just to appease the blue eyed boys of the Current Election Commissioners of the BBIA as the said candidates were not able to file their nomination papers on time. Where as the nominations for elections to the office bearers of the BBIA were due to be filed by the eligible candidates on or before the 6th of April 2015 before 2 pm. The nominations of certain candidates who were close to some of the Election Commissioners were accepted after the specified time and that too not within the office premises of the BBIA. This was done just to appease and adjust the members related to one of the Election Commissioners. When an objection was raised by the candidates who has submitted their nomination forms on time, the election commissioners postponed the elections without citing any valid reasons. This shows a clear case of conflict of interest of the Election Commissioners. The candidates who had raised objections would have been elected unopposed as the office bearers of the BBIA as there was no eligible candidate who had submitted their nominations well in time as specified in the BBIA letter no BBIA/Election/2015-17 dated 31sth of March 2015. The postponement of the elections does not come under the purview of the powers of the Election Commissioners and this is in gross violations of the powers of the BBIA Election Commissioners as cited in the constitution of BBIA. The postponement of the elections can be done only after the approval of the AGM (Annual General Meeting).This is the mala fide practice which is being carried by certain members for their personal interests   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
