Rehab Policy: 453 arrived in state with families through illegal route; Over 4000 still camping in Pakistan | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 6: The National Conference leader and member Legislative Council Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri today stage walkout from the Legislative Council over the issue of allowing the youths who had crossed over to Pakistan or Pakistan Occupied Kashmir for arms training and waging war against the country through Nepal route under Rehabilitation policy and termed the government decision of allowing these youths to return through non designated route as a grave security threat. While talking to media persons, Dr. Bashir Veeri said that in a reply to question, the Minister In charge Home in his reply confirmed that over 4000 youths hailing from different areas of the state who had crossed over to POK for arms training were still campaigning in Pakistan, while 453 such persons had returned to the state along with 197 wives and 603 children via Nepal route which is not a recognized route as per the Rehabilitation policy announced by the government of India. He said that by allowing these youths to come through Nepal route, the government of India is playing with fire which ultimately posed a grave threat to the security establishment of the country. He said that government of India should allow these youths to return only through designated routes. It is pertinent to mention that in addition to Mohammad Hamid Ansari led Confidence Building measures group, the union government in 2008 also constituted four other groups which included the group on strengthening relations across the LOC, headed by M Rasgotra, for ensuring good governance headed by N C Saxena and strengthening relations between the state and the center headed by Justice S Sagheer Ahmed. |
