Can't deny prime posting to officials with VO cases: CM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 6: The government has said it can't deny prime postings to even official against whom cases of corruption have been registered or are under investigation. The government said officials against whom cases are pending are given postings in the interest of the administration as an accused can't be held guilty before conviction by the court of the law and there is nothing in the rules to deny them the posting. The chief minister in reply to a question by Qamar Hussain in the Assembly on Monday said there is no categorization of the posts as key posts or the plum posts in the administration and posting are ordered in the interests of the administration based on merit and suitability. The answer is self-reflective of the reason for corrupt officials holding prime and key postings and regularly getting transferred to important postings. The vigilance organistaion has till now has not got any senior official convicted in the court. The government has not even accorded sanction against many top level officials against whom cases are pending. The sources said the list prepared by the vigilance organization is not being taken seriously and it is used either to get some vested interests done or to keep the official on the tenter-hook. Till now, not a even a single minister, including former minister, or MLA or top official including the police official has been book convicted by the court on the case produced and challaned by the vigilance organization. The government in its answer also said the investigation can't be completed due to collection of the relevant records required in the investigation of the cases takes a lot of time. It also cited that obtaining record from the government of the Indian in some cases is also a time consuming exercise and it requires lot of man power to finalise the cases. |
