Inter-department sports meet of JU
Mathematics wins women's chess title

Jammu, Apr 10: Department of Mathematics clinched the women's chess title outplaying Department of Commerce 2-1 in the final of the inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu (JU) being organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education on the campus, here today.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Mathematics outplayed Department of Physics and Electronics 2-1 while Department of Commerce defeated Department of Chemistry 2-1.
Meanwhile, the Department of Mathematics also made it to the final of the men's chess competition. Now, in the final, Mathematics shall be playing against Department of Geography. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, Mathematics beat The Business School 2-0 while Geography trounced The Law School 2-1.
The men's table tennis title went to the Law School, who beat The Business School 2-1 in the final. In the semifinals, Business School beat Department of Commerce 2-1 and The Law School trounced Department of Zoology 2-0.
In women's badminton final, Department of Commerce beat The Law School 2-1. Earlier, in the preliminary round, Commerce defeated Sports and Physical Education 2-0.
In the meantime, The Law School beat Department of Sports and Physical Education for the men's table tennis title.
The Results: Semifinals: Sports and Physical Education bt Department of Law 2-0; The Law School bt Department of Physics and Electronics 2-0.
In men's carom event, The Law School won the title outplaying Department of Biotechnology 2-1. Earlier, in the semifinals, Law School beat Department of Law 2-0. The women's carom title bagged by Department of Mathematics after they defeated Department of Law 2-0.
Today's competition officiated by the technical penal comprising Sushil Kumar Sawhney, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Sadiq Hussain, Vijay Dogra and Jagtar Singh.
