Irresponsible statements making confusion worse confounded
Ram Madhav the 'villain'
4/11/2015 12:21:01 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 10: BJP national general secretary and former "half-baked" RSS ideologue Ram Madhav is at the receiving end in Jammu region, which not only houses almost 4 million Dogras, but also over 1.5 million refugees from PoJK, West Pakistan and Kashmir valley. Everyone in Jammu is charging him with playing "dubious games" and directly and indirectly "encouraging" separatist and communal forces in the Valley.
The original inhabitants of Jammu region are denouncing him because they believe, and rightly, that he and his bosses in Delhi like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah have compromised the age-old Indian stand on Jammu and Kashmir by describing Pakistan and Hurriyat leadership as "stakeholders" in this part of the state; by "depriving" them of their due share in the governance of the state, in the State Cabinet and in the Council of Ministers; and by "accepting certain suggestions" which, if given an effect to, "will help terrorists and separatists give a fillip to anti-India and subversive activities". In fact, the people of Jammu region are dismissing Ram Madhav as a "villain".
Paradoxically, Ram Madhav has been defending the deal which has further weakened Jammu region and the ignored people it houses - a deal which is being appreciated by one and all in Kashmir, including separatists. Separatists are not expressing their happiness in public; they are expressing it an another way by accelerating their break-India activities with the authorities giving them a freehand and providing a fool proof security cover at the cost of the nation.
The refugees from West Pakistan are condemning Ram Madhav because the power-sharing deal he struck contains nothing for them. They wanted citizenship rights, but the Agenda of Alliance only talks about "sustenance and livelihood". "What non-sense," they are saying. Similarly, the refugees of PoJK are condemning him and the deal he signed. They are also saying the same thing: "The Agenda of Alliance contains nothing for them" and that "the BJP is the ugly face of the pseudo-secular and Valley-centric Congress".
And, on Thursday, the internally displaced and persecuted Kashmiri Pandits came down heavily on him. What irked and angered them were his words "patience" and "reintegrating (Kashmiri Pandits) as well as absorbing them in the Kashmiri milieu".
Ram Madhav used these words at a time when the separatists in Kashmir and all the "mainstream" Kashmiri parties, without any exception, rejected out-of-hand the suggestion that special townships be set up for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley and threatened a Kashmir-wide agitation. The Pandits, who were already feeling cheated, were still hoping that Ram Madhav would "rebuff" the separatists and assert that Kashmir belonged more to the Kashmiri Pandits than to those who had been working against India and demanding separation of the state from India on the ground that it was a Muslim-majority region. They questioned his words "Kashmiri milieu" all the more, asking him "what exactly he meant by these words". "Did he mean the merger of the Kashmiri Pandit community with the community that threw them out of the Valley in 1990 to establish there Nizam-e-Mustafa," some of them asked. "Did he mean participation of the Pandit community in the ongoing separatist movement in certain parts of the Valley?", they also asked.
"Ram Madhav must stop poking his nose in Jammu and Kashmir. The more he speaks the more trouble he creates for the minorities in the state and the country. He must keep his mouth shut because whenever he opens his mouth and speaks about Jammu and Kashmir, he adds to their woes and emboldens separatist and communal forces in Kashmir," the activists of the displaced community on Thursday said, and added that "sooner he is removed from the positions he is holding in the party, the better it would be for the party, Sangh Parivar and the country".
