Anantnag Private Schools violate Court orders, charge fee for Sept, Oct | | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Anantnag, Apr 10: In blatant violation of the High Court directions, several private schools in this southern district are charging fee for September and October months of last year. Scores of parents whose wards are enrolled in Radiant Public School, Oxford Presentation, EFF EMM School, Sidra public School, Delhi Public School Sangam and Saint Lukes School complained that the school authorities were charging the tuition fee for both the months despite High Court directive. They alleged that School authorities were forcing them to clear the dues of September and October; otherwise their wards would not be allowed to sit in the classes. "I went to Radiant school and reminded them about the court order but they told me that they are not bound to obey the orders of High Court," Nisar Ahmad Lone, a parent told Early Times. Tahir Ahmad Bhat, another parent too accused Radiant school administration of behaving arrogantly. "All private schools openly charge fee for both the months. Education department has miserably failed in implementing court orders and Chief Education Officer who was received many written complaints against these erring schools hasn't so far taken any action which has put a question mark over his credibility."Bhat, who is chief-editor of weekly 'Gulistan' Newspaper told Early Times. Khursheed Ahmad Lone another parent too conveyed the same complaint and said, "I told people at Delhi Public School about the high court directive, even faxed them a copy but still they charged for the both." Similar complaints were also pouring against Oxford Presentation, EFF EMM School, Sidra public School, Delhi Public School Sangam and Saint Lukes School. Two days ago, hundreds of parents and students belonging to different private schools of Anantnag district staged a protest on Khanabal-Lalchowk road against violation of High Court orders by these schools. Anger is brewing against Chief Education Officer Anantnag, who has received many written complaints had not, yet took any action against the schools violating High court orders. Pertinently, soon after floods, the court, while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), had directed the schools in Kashmir not to charge any fee from the students in view of the devastating floods that hit the Valley in the first week of September. J&K High Court had also issued notices to 59 schools and had asked them to explain reasons for charging tuition fee and bus fare for the months of September and October earlier. |
