Unhappy with posting, IPS officer applies for deputation to Centre | | | Early Times Report Jammu, April 10: Feeling dejected with his "unimportant" posting, a senior IPS officer of the rank of IGP has applied for deputation to the Centre. He had a long stay in the CID wing of the state police and his work was appreciated by one and all in his department. During the last reshuffle in the higher rung of police department, he expected some important assignment but when the government shifted him to Home Guards, he made up his mind to serve outside the state on deputation, according to reliable sources in police administration. Sources said the IGP had applied for deputation to the Centre and had been using his connections in the union home ministry to get his file okayed. "His first priority is his home state but in case he does not get a posting there he will prefer his posting in any central department," the sources added. Sources said the union home ministry was likely to give clearance to his file in the next few days and he would then leave the state for his new posting at the Centre or to his home state. Apart from the IGP, there were some other police officers also who were unhappy with their posting. They too had applied to the union home ministry for their deputation to the Centre, sources informed. At least three police officers, including an additional DGP and two IGPs, were also waiting for approval of their files for deputation to the Centre, sources said. Sources said all of them were feeling dispirited after their transfers to those wings of the state police, which "are considered less important in the police circles here". |
