Darhal residents protest against Health Deptt 4/11/2015 1:14:13 AM Early Times Report Rajouri, Apr 10: Inhabitants of Darhal Tehsil held a protest demonstration against the Health Department and Health Minister alleging that the sub district hospital situated at Darhal has been left on the mercy of God with only two doctors and BMO running the hospital despite many odds. Protesters declared that the Health Minister would be welcomed at Darhal only after he send or bring required doctors as the people of the area have been facing many difficulties in the absence of consultant doctors. "We the people of Darhal tehsil getting step motherly treatment from the successive governments and are deprived of basic facilities including safe drinking water, good health facilities, power etc." said Iftikar Ahmed, a protester. Pertinently out of sanctioned 14 posts of consultant doctors 10 are lying vacant for the last many months and only today child specialist has joined the duties at sub district hospital. The hospital has fully equipped Operation Theater, ultra sound machine, X-Ray unit besides fully equipped laboratory but no man power was made available by the Health Authorities to make these operational. Out of 8 sanctioned posts of Medical Officers (MO) seven are lying vacant while remaining MO has been attached with district hospital. "Out of 5 sanctioned posts of consultant doctors including Physician, Gynecologist, Surgeon, Anesthetist and child specialist only one was filled today" said BMO. As all the posts of consultant doctors and MOs are lying vacant so no operation was being conducted at this hospital despite the facts that the hospital catering the medical requirement of more than one lakh souls of the area.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
